Organized Light Photography

Little Rocco is getting big. I first shot him when he was in his mommy's belly. I then photographed him at two weeks and now I had the pleasure of photographing him at 6 months.

Rocco was born right after my son, Andres, was born and even though I have been through it before with my two daughters, it never seizes to amazing me how fast they grow.

Rocco has gone from belly to six months all in a blink of an eye. August will be his nine month birthday session culminating with a big one year birthday session. Maybe he'll crunch some cake! :)

There is something simple yet complex about photographing an infant. Simple because the less props you use, the more they pop and stay the center of focus. Complex because their schedule and behaviors are hard to predict. However, with some patience and understanding, you can capture some amazing photographs that are emotional and stunning.

So as with all my clients, I am extremely blessed to have been able to photograph Little Rocco at 11 days old. He was a trooper!

It's amazing what you can do with two unruly girls, a white seamless backdrop and a whole lot of of patience.

I set this shoot up to photograph Baby Andres and while I got some great images of him, I think the priceless shots are of the girls. The girls just kept going on the backdrop, while I was shooting and I was getting a little ticked, so I finally just let them have at it and it turned to be a fun game. Only then was able to snap a few shots that are now priceless in my book.

These are 7 out of 14 shots. Sometimes you don't need 16GB to capture the best moments. :)

This weekend we held a great Halloween portrait event at Twinkle Twinkle Little Store in Monrovia. It is always a pleasure to meet new parents and kids, but it's truly a pleasure to see past clients.

It was a blast and at the end of the day, the kids that had the best time, were those that were well slept, well fed and well compensated for their hard work! Dum Dum Lolipop's were a hit!

Here are just a few of the kids that we had a great time with.

Last week I had the great opportunity to photograph Sienah Pablo, a young folklorico dancer from Folklorico Popurri Dance Company. Sienah is an enthusiastic and hard working dancer that loves to dance folklorico.

Her mom mentioned that she practices four days a week and performs on the weekends. It's a great commitment on Sienah's part, but also for her mom, as she is the one that takes her to practices and competitions. I commend her mother, Cinthya, on her commitment and for passing along her families culture and dance traditions.

I uploaded a few pictures from our session for your viewing pleasure. I was playing around with some photoshop techniques to give the images somewhat of a vintage look. They remind me of some old Mexican films we used to watch as a child.

I had the pleasure of photographing Isabella and Jacob this summer. Jacob was initially wasn't a happy camper, but eventually gave in and gave us some great expressions.
